Former Rep. Elizabeth Holtzman (D-NY) makes the case for BushCo accountability in her new book, but gives Obama a pass for extending the coverups and some of the crimes.  Holtzman served 4 terms in Congress, and was on the House Judiciary Committee that impeached Nixon.  She continues her fight for presidential accountability in Cheating Justice: How Bush & Cheney Attacked the Rule of Law and Plotted to Avoid Prosecution–and What We Can Do About It, co-authored with Cynthia L. Cooper.  The book is a concise indictment of Bush etal for the lies that led to the Iraq War, illegal wiretapping, and torture.  It properly calls for a new special prosecutor law, revisions to the War Crimes Act, the latest FISA law that permits unconstitutional wiretapping, and most importantly, the State Secrets Privilege.  Your humble host doesn’t agree with Holtzman that Patrick Fitzgerald was a good special counsel, and presses her on the book’s failure to hold Obama to any of the standards she sets for his predecessors.  Despite its lengthy subtitle and failure to criticize Obama and AG Eric Holder, the book clearly lays out the cases and routes to investigation and prosecution for the Bushies, and is well worth reading.
