Former Guantanamo prosecutor Col. Morris Davis (ret.), who resigned in protest, is the Democratic candidate for Congress in North Carolina. Davis appeared on our podcast in the past, commenting on Guantanamo issues and the Chelsea Manning court-martial. He returns today to talk about his race for Congress, vying for Mark Meadows’s old seat.
In this wide-ranging conversation, we talk about the election fraud and gerrymandering that have erased the Democratic registration advantage and enabled Republicans to dominate. A state court ordered new district lines last year, and Moe Davis jumped into the race. He topped a 5-way primary with 47% of the vote, and faces an inexperienced Republican in November.
We discuss the plight of Americans who are unemployed, facing eviction, and navigating the pandemic without health insurance. Davis raises the issues of police reform, and laments that Gitmo has not been closed.
He defines his opponent, 25-year-old Madison Cawthorn, as a clone of Meadows, who is now Trump’s White House Chief of Staff. He also comments on reform of domestic surveillance and the FISA court. And we also talk about the ongoing sex scandals at the Air Force Academy and calls to remove investigations and prosecutions for sex crimes from the chain of command.
