Veteran independent journalist Gareth Porter returns to talk about the negotiations with Iran over nuclear limits and removal of sanctions, which have been extended.Porter is the author of Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iranian Nuclear Scare.  His recent reports on the nuke talks are here and here.

We open with the current status, as talks have been extended for 2 days beyond the March 31 deadline.  Porter notes the unprecedented efforts to scuttle the talks by Israel and its allies, including the treasonous letter signed by 46 GOP senators.

Iran has agreed to many of the terms demanded, but wants the entire sanctions framework to be removed in exchange.  Porter also breaks some news here:  that Iran has agreed to redesign the Arak heavy water reactor to reduce the amount of plutonium that could be produced.

We talk about the dealmaking from an Iranian perspective, and the challenges in selling any deal with the West to hardliners in Iran.  And we discuss the change in tone by the Obama administration following Netanyahu’s campaign comments.
