Okun begins with a brief history of feminism and profeminist men’s groups, going back to the 1970’s. We mention a few of these local groups, many of which are still active today. We discuss how the liberation of men from old sex role models is as important as it is for women. Okun mentions Obama’s recent effort to build awareness of rape on college campuses, and from there we talk about the sex scandals in the Catholic church and the US military–and the need for evolved men to stand against them. We discuss how men’s groups can facilitate change in men who have violent or predatory pasts, and that men must stand up to gun violence, as most of the mass murders are committed by males. And we also touch on the important role that fathers play in the socialization of their children.
